Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Program (RGCLP) in Assam is implemented in 400 schools covering one lakh fifty thousand students in places even as remote as Majuli, a remote island in Brahamputra. Students are taught Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English using computers. The facilities in Majuli are as good as those in Guwahati, so are the student aspirations. While a student in Guwahati wants to become an engineer, a Mishing tribal girl in Majuli aspires to become an air-hostess thanks to her English lessons. Implemented state-wide by AMTRON – the project aims to cover the remaining 230 schools soon.
