O T Lepcha: Exemplary Use of Technology
Rajya Sabha
For the citizens of remote Temi village of South Sikkim, the Citizen Information Centre (CIC) housed in Panchayat Ghar, is their window to the outside world. From examination results, to downloading all kinds of government forms, looking for jobs, internet banking and even commodity prices, the citizen aged 6 to 60 are finding good value in the service. There are 40 such centres spread all over the state. In addition, services like issuing Record of Rights locally known as Parcha and property registration are already automated and are available to all the citizens.
We also salute the spirit of Dr Shefali Dash of NIC that keeps the CICs in North-East humming. We further note the contribution of Mr S R Das of DIT in making the Replication Project at Namchi a success. Our team was also immensely impressed by the heritage preservation work being done by monks at Churtan Monastry, through support received from Mr Ajeer Vidya.
